5 Quick, Easy and Short-Term Methods for Removing Fur from Your Stair Carpet
Cats and dogs are a delight to have around the house. They lift your spirits when you're down, keep you company when you're alone, and cater to your nurturing instincts. However, no matter how well-trained they are, there is one thing about them that will always be a problem: fur. Wherever your cat or dog goes, so too does their fur. It's hard enough keeping on top of it when the fur is all over your furniture, curtains and carpets but there is one place that seems to attract fur like cats to a warm lap.
For some reason, carpets and fur can't get enough of each other. If your stair carpet is constantly becoming a "stair fur-pet", and you either don't have the time or the money to go shopping for an expensive vacuum cleaner, try these quick and easy methods to get your carpets fur-free.
Sellotape is Handy
This quick and easy method can also be used on clothes and furniture. Wrap several layers of sellotape around your palm, then get ready for some serious patting. It can be time consuming; however, this is probably the cheapest method available as it simply requires a roll of sellotape and some determination.
Rubber Gloves
Stick on some rubber gloves, put a little warm water in a bucket and you are set to go. Simply dip your gloves in the water, then run your hands along each stair from front to back and watch your stair carpet reappear.
A Palm and Some Water
If you don't have access to rubber gloves or sellotape, this idea works just as well. Wet your hand, then run it along each stair until you end up with a yucky but neat ball of hair in the middle of your palm.
Lint Roller
A lint roller is for those who prefer not to get their hands furry, and is just as effective as the above methods.
Wet Sponge or Cloth
If the thought of getting your hands covered in pet hair doesn't appeal, simply wet a cloth or sponge and wipe each stair until it is clear of hair.
As long as you monitor the situation daily and use one of the above methods to prevent pet-hair buildup, you won't need to invest in a specialized vacuum or fur-cleaning tool. However, if your pet fur problem gets out of hand, you can always call on a local cleaning service to give your house a thorough clean.
