About Me

Having an impressive office

When clients come to our office, they need to be impressed. Working in our industry includes a lot of emphasis on appearance and image, so our office needs to be a reflection of the impeccable focus we have on our work. We have a great cleaning crew who goes the extra mile and makes sure that every surface is sparkling and looks showroom condition after they have come through. It can be challenging to find a great cleaning crew through, so I've started a blog to share my tips with other small business owners who need to have a spotless office.

How Is Industrial Cleaning Different from Standard Commercial Cleaning?

When you own or operate any type of industrial facility, you will need to ensure the location is properly cleaned as often as necessary. Hiring a standard office cleaning company usually is not sufficient; you need a company that specializes in industrial cleaning. This is because your cleaning needs will be somewhat different for your industrial setting, even for a warehouse that doesn't include a production line, than the cleaning needs for your office. Note a few of those differences so you know to choose the right company for your facility.

Floor cleaning

Industrial flooring often needs different cleaning methods than an office floor, which can be simply vacuumed or mopped. Industrial flooring often has a level of oil or grime from oil droplets that become airborne; these can be from forklifts in a warehouse or from a production line. The floors may also have more dust than standard office floors, from the items you have on shelving that easily collect dust or from dirt and dust coming in from open doors on the shipping docks.

An industrial cleaning company will usually need to use heavy-duty vacuums to remove all that dust and may also need to actually power wash the floors if they're extra greasy, or use a commercial quality floor buffer that removed grease and grime. Standard mopping usually does not do enough to get industrial floors clean.

Washrooms

Because persons who work in an industrial setting may have more grease and oil on their hands, you may find that the sinks in washrooms have added layers of grease, grime, dirt, and the like. They cannot simply be sprayed with a lightweight cleaner and then polished, as you can often do with sinks in office washrooms. An industrial cleaner will usually use a degreaser on the washroom sinks before using a bleach product to kill germs; without this added step, the grease may simply be smeared around the washroom sinks.

Trash management

In an industrial setting, the trash that is removed is typically different than the trash removed in an office; this trash might include broken pallets, scraps of metal, and the like. If you want your cleaning service to remove the trash from the facility and place it in your company's bins, you need to ensure they can manage this. Typically they should have heavy-duty work gloves to protect them from injury, or they may need the personnel required to roll trash barrels to outside your facility. Be sure you check on this if you want your industrial cleaners to handle your trash management.
